OUR PAST PROJECTS
Below are some of the past projects that I have helped with in Belize.

Desks for a Village School
A visit to the village of San Jose in the Orange Walk District of Belize revealed a great need to provide desks for the students. Working with local craftsmen, we purchased wood and paid to have 30 desks made. Previously there were three children sitting on a single bench used as a desk. Five whiteboards were also purchased for the classroom.

Balls for the Playground
Several balls and pumps were provided to the children and are being used for play during recess.

Pews for a Village Church
During a visit to a small church in the remote village of Palo Grande, we replaced some wooden benches that were in poor condition. A priest travels to the village from St. Peter Claver church in Punta Gorda to celebrate the mass. The building is open air, has a metal roof, and only had four pews. With the help of a local craftsman, we furnished 10 new church pews.

Meeting Random Needs
During a visit to a local village, there was a need to provide paint to the interior and exterior of some buildings. Some of the paint that was provided was used for a mural.

Helping the Sisters
The Pallottine sisters were founded in the 19th century by Roman priest Vincent Pallotti. Four sisters arrived originally in Belize from Germany on March 17, 1913.
They started by educating the poor, teaching english, gardening, sewing, woodworking and the arts. Many of the sisters are retired educators. Today they help with programs to assist students with books, tuition and other expenses as well as help poor families, including the elderly and shut ins. The sisters were provided computers during a recent visit.
